A haven for those seeking a genuine path to personal growth and well-being in a supportive environment. We believe in the transformative power of fitness, not just for the body, but for the mind and spirit as well. We foster a community that thrives on encouragement, support, growth, and shared aspirations. Unlike traditional gyms, we intentionally steer clear of fad diets and fleeting weight loss schemes.
Instead, we meet each member exactly where they are on their fitness journey, tailoring our approach to their individual levels and goals. With a team of dedicated and experienced coaches, we provide exceptional guidance, ensuring that every step you take is a step towards progress. Join us in this journey of embracing strength, celebrating growth, and fostering connections that go beyond the walls of our gym.
Our Story
The Vitality Community Fitness story begins in 2015, when Head Coach Kristin Kavanaugh was working at a gym in New Orleans East while also working on her personal training license . Noticing how much Kristin was loving the work, her wife Mary encouraged her to consider opening her own gym. Combining Mary’s sense of marketing and self-love mentality with Kristin’s athleticism and knowledge, the couple set out to build something special. By early 2016, Vitality Community Fitness opened its doors.
Vitality Community Fitness has since grown into a space which values inclusivity, fun, and fitness training. It wasn’t long before Mary and Kristin recognized a need for folx of all identities, body sizes, and fitness levels to have a supportive environment which made working out not only accessible, but also targeted to individual needs and comfort levels. After a successful event called Dykes Do Deadlifts, Vitality began to describe itself as “the big gay gym.”
But Vitality Community Fitness is more than a queer-founded and friendly safe space. It is also a space for every body to receive professional fitness training and coaching in everything from weight training to aerial silks. At Vitality, we celebrate the privilege that is being able to move and strengthen our bodies. We recognize that fitness is a forever thing, and offer our clients the accountability and support necessary to maintain a healthy body, spirit, and mind.
