In her words…
I joined Vitality because I wanted to try something new. I have joined gyms and done other fitness classes but I wanted something that would combine strength training and cardio. I wanted it all ! Also I joined because I was drunk at 12 mile and I met Kristin and told her I would try it out. Drunk me keeps promises.
I feel like when I first started I was kind of nervous and unsure of the moves and the equipment. Honestly the barbell scared me. Since I have started I feel like I have become more confident and comfortable with the workouts and even though I may complain I am not scared to push myself anymore. It makes me excited when I can lift a little heavier and when I can run a little further without dying. Also I hate running but Kristin always tells me that I am good at it and makes me want to hate it less and embrace it.
When I first joined my only goal was to have some sort of physical activity in my daily routine. That goal was quickly reached as I started attending more classes and honestly that's still my goal today. I am just happy with the fact that I show up in the morning to workout. I would love to see myself get stronger but as long as I am in the gym a few days a week I am pretty proud of myself.
The fact that I get up to attend the 6AM is something to be proud of. I never thought I could be that person who works out in the morning but here I am.
When I talk to others about Vitality I always tell them how friendly the community is. Not only are the coaches super supportive and motivate you but so do all of the other VCF members. It’s nice to have a little gym family. I have gone to other similar gyms and It just made me feel weird and out of place and VCF is not like that.
In Coach Kristin’s words…
Rebecca Crawford has a special place in my heart. Getting to know her on a personal level, as well as coaching her for the past year, has been such a joy. When she joined Vitality, she came really took her time to get her bearings. She was conservative about how much weight she would put on a barbell and finding a good speed for her to move through. Today, I and her coaches push Rebecca to new challenges, though she is sometimes hesitant at first- she will always at least try something a little heavier. She may not always like it but she stays positive and is always willing to try.
Rebecca is part of a trio that nests by the back of the class, where the fans are near and her besties are by her side keeping her accountable. The friends she has brought with her to Vitality are people I can’t imagine ever being without in our gym. Her crew is so much what we want people to think about when they think about VCF. Fun, hardworking but mostly fun. Rebecca has come such a long way since her first day at Vitality. Her form and that squat depth are definitely something to write home about, and even though she will always hate the amount of running in a workout, she pushes through and always crushes it.
To know Rebecca is to love her, she is a walking smile. She’s funny, kind and smart. We have both mastered impressions of each other that never ceases to make us crack up. I feel lucky to know her and be her friend! Thanks for building the culture of the infamous 6a class and being an incredible human being, boo.
