In her words…

I joined Vitality because I knew I needed to start exercising, I have health complications and I needed to be proactive about it! When I would go to the “typical” gym I would never know what to do and it was overwhelming. Coming to Vitality makes that stress go away because I have someone telling me what to do.

Vitality is the only place I feel I safe and not judged. Sometimes I need to modify movements or weight and it’s nice to know no one is judging me!

When I first started Vitality I couldn’t even run 200ft without dying. Also in the beginnging I could not finish a workout, or if I did finish I was dead last! Now, I can finish the workouts and sometimes I am in the top to finish. I’m also a much stronger runner and have lost 15lbs!

A goal I’d really love to hit still is to be able to do one full push-up! Generally I want to continue to strengthen myself so that I age better and stronger

I am most proud of showing up! My goal is 3 times a week and usually make it 4 times a week. I have a lot of health issues and I am proud that I am getting ahead of them or not letting them beat me! I am proud that i was able to do 70 lb push jerk!

When I describe Vitality to others I would have to say it is the safest place to be at a gym with out any judgement and it’s is the most diverse group of people. ( I love that, there is so much to learn from diversity) I would tell them to go try it out and you can always modify if something is hurting you and it’s better to do something rather than nothing!

In Coach Kristin’s words…

Angie came from a fitness world where there are many judgements and extreme expectations up front. She came into Vitality clearly unsure if she would be able to hack it and already putting so much pressure on herself to perform. We worked hard together to strip down those assumptions about herself and what fitness could be for her to a level where she could see herself growing and being active in a sustainable way!

Angie is a mother and it radiates from her energy, she gives loving attention to anyone she is speaking to and you can feel how much she cares. What I love most about Angie is her open-mindedness to her peers around her in the gym. Let's face it, Angie is definitely a minority in our big 20 & 30 somethings gay gym! I adore how much she takes being a part of our community seriously in and how much she’s learned as a member of Vitality is evident. She’s the first one to tell you this!

I am honored that I can provide a safe space for her, as well, to be herself and be proud of her workouts. She is hilarious and is always spitting out some unpredictable response to the question of the day with a great sense of humor about herself. She is such a hard worker and is so supportive of her 4:30p crew- it is a true joy having her as a member and a friend.
