JUNE MEMBER OF THE MONTH

In hER words…

Even though I’ve only been a member for a little over a year, I wanted to join Vitality since I first tried it in 2019. After my first 3 classes, I fell in love with the community and the workouts. Before finally joining, I realized that I needed to commit more time to myself and Vitality’s afternoon classes were a perfect excuse to make sure I left work at a decent time for the day.

When I first started the workouts, I felt a little intimidated by some of the workout moves that I’ve never done before. Along the way, the coaches have always been so supportive while demoing the workouts and ensuring that I’m moving with proper form. Now I find that I’m more comfortable trying new moves and have even been able to progress my weight with some of them.

This year, I started participating in some races again after not doing so for a while. A goal of mine is to regularly work on decreasing my 5k and 10k race time while keeping up with my strength training at Vitality.

I’m proud of how consistent I have been since I’ve joined Vitality. I’ve always been active, but previously I found myself switching workout plans or types of workouts every few months. The classes at Vitality are versatile enough to keep things interesting, but I’m still able to track and build upon my progress over time.

Vitality is a truly inclusive and fun gym where everyone is welcome to be their authentic selves. In each class you can find someone cheering you on and you’ll probably get a laugh from the question of the day responses. It’s my favorite part of the day.

In Coach Kristin’s words…

I have known Issa for just shy of 20 years, not only has she not aged a day but her sense of humor and kind demeanor is exactly as it was when I became friends with her in the 8th grade. When Issa joined Vitality, I was excited to have my old familiar friend back, now as a friend-client.

At the gym Issa instantly clicked with the rest of the community, she is such an easy going person with a nice touch of sarcastic manner that we at Vitality all get down with. She is a true team player and such a supporter of Vitality and its ethos. She has brought a ton of friends' events and is always sharing this community.

As a coach, I've noticed her form and presence stand out over the past year. She is very receptive to feedback on her lifts and by doing so has become significantly stronger! As a friend, I am happy to get to see her every week and get the chance to connect with her on a level that is different to the rest of the membership because of our history. She is someone I trust and love whole-heartedly. She's one of my favorite people in and out of the gym and  I feel so grateful that she chose Vitality as her gym.

Issa, you da best.
